The International Press Center was opened with a magnificent ceremony in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the Izmir Journalists' Association.
The International Press Center has been opened, in which there is a conference room, a television studio, work areas for freelance journalists, an International Media Communication Office, educational laboratories, a library and work offices. At such a time when pressure and censorship on the media are increasing and the journalism profession is under threat; this center, which we have established with the Izmir Society of Journalists, will undoubtedly empower press workers and the media sector,”he said.

Stating that they understand the value of a free press better during this period when the media is in favor of the right and the strong, not the truth, President Soyer said, “We need a free press like bread and water to crown the Republic with democracy. Of course, we will come out of these terrible days when expressing the truth is clearly considered a crime, those who speak the truth are lynched, and law, common sense, reason, and compromise are shelved. We will achieve this thanks to our press workers who continue to make impartial news at the expense of wearing fire shirts. This center is a humble contribution offered by Izmir to the struggle to restore freedom of expression and the press,”he said.

The International Press Center, which will operate on an area of about 600 square meters, will offer free trainings for all professionals, especially young journalists, to learn and use the technologies of the day. Within the framework of the determined educational programs, “New Technologies in Audio and Visual Media”, “New Media and Digital Applications”, “Digital Marketing” and “Foreign Language” courses will be given to all professionals on weekdays.

In addition, the center will provide a working environment where foreign press members who come to Izmir and freelance journalists working in the field can prepare their news. The television studio will meet the production needs of the Izmir press. The studio will also provide services for live broadcasts, programs and productions of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and local governments. in the conference hall with a capacity of 60 people, large-scale organizations such as panels, conferences, open sessions can be organized. These events will be broadcast live on various channels.
